FFI's Washington DC team consists of bankers, economists, and energy experts/engineers. Our Directors and Officers are:
Elizabeth Wallace, CEO and President Elizabeth started her career in environment and energy. She worked with Amory Lovins on energy issues worldwide before turning her attention to financial sector development. Elizabeth established the European Bank for Reconstruction Development's pioneering micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) department where she oversaw over USD 5 billion in financing and technical assistance. Following EBRD, Elizabeth worked in China and consulted on MSME finance and renewable energy in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Elizabeth has published articles and reports on small business finance and on energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies, including photovoltaics, biogas, ethanol, residential energy savings by building type, and nationwide end-use studies. Elizabeth has an MPhil from the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex, and a PhD from the London School of Economics.
Marga Scheck, Vice President and Operations Director Marga, who has been with IPC for16 years, has recently joined the FFI office. Marga has been instrumental in developing and optimizing best-practice in MSME lending. She has managed programs in countries as diverse as Turkey, Russia and China. She has experience in some of the largest, most complex programs with existing commercial banks and greenfield institutions. Marga is also leading an Energy Efficiency program in Turkey and she was recently in Bolivia for an EERE program. Marga holds a Masters in economics from the University of Trier.
External Directors:
Gabriele Heber, Director Gabriele is a managing director of IPC. Gabriele currently focuses on energy efficiency and renewable energy finance in South East Europe and Latin America and bank projects in Africa. In her role as a microfinance consultant, Gabriele advised financial institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), Africa and Eastern Europe, undertook financial sector studies, and helped in the preparatory and design phase of various credit programs and the establishment of greenfield banks. Gabriele holds a M.Sc. in chemistry from the University of Freiburg and resides in Frankfurt.
Gabriel Schor, Director Gabriel has been involved with FFI since its establishment, developing programs in Latin America and Eastern Europe. Gabriel has over 20 years experience with MSME finance, predominantly in Latin America. As a PhD economist and sociologist, Gabriel has had major responsibilities in structuring educational reform programs, designing and implementing energy strategies, promoting regional industrial development, as well as in bank restructuring, and agricultural finance. He has helped to establish banks and microfinance institutions throughout LAC. Gabriel is a Managing Director of ProCredit Holding and resides in Frankfurt.

FFI also has a invaluable "working" advisers who are drawn from the financial and environmental fields. In our new web-site, which we plan to launch by September, we will have a special feature on our environmental advisers, Huston Eubank, Alex Hill, Sonia Medena and Janice Astbury, who specialise in green building, carbon markets and community outreach for sustainable development.
